Spring on the Kapiti Coast

It looks like a Japanese garden and that is what it is; except that this one is in Waikanae, not in Japan.

Right now the cherry blossom trees on the Kapiti Coast are in full bloom, one of the two most colourful two-week periods of the year, the other is in autumn in early May.

It looks very nice - where in Waikanae is this garden?

It is a private garden (not ours alas). But right now Belevedere Avenue in Waikanae is lined on both sides for about 1 km by cherry blossom trees in full bloom, a worthwhile detour. However, Kapanui School is in this street, so it's best to avoid driving along it around 9 am and 3 pm on schooldays as it is jammed full of mothers driving their kids to school :-(
