Vulcan Ambassador in Scotland


When it comes to trains in Britain it doesn't get much better than Pullman carriages in the Scottish Highlands (normally in Britain today you will get cramped uncomfortable railcars - even the recent Virgin sets are awful).  Here it is better still: a classic 1950s Deltic diesel-electric upfront - the "Vulcan" headboard isn't a reference to the builder as these were built by English Electric using Napier & Son "deltic" prime movers.

It refers to the Vulcan Foundry where they were made in Newton Le Willows,
