1971 Opal HQ Statesman de Ville

Released at the same time as Holden's 'futuristic' new HQ range, the Opal - HQ Statesman de Ville was not badged or sold as a Holden. This new marque of distinction, which superseded the Brougham, was aimed at attracting new buyers from the 'well-heeled' men about town and winning market share from the successful Ford Fairlane. With an impressive long wheel base of 114 inches (2,900 mm), classic design features and lavish interior appointments, the Statesman became the luxury car generations of Australians would aspire to own. Powered by a 308 cubic inch (5048 cc) V8, or optional 350 (5736 cc) Chevrolet engine, the top-of-the-line Statesman de Ville could be ordered with or without a vinyl roof.

Available as a 1:43 model from TopGear
