the HMS 'Andrew'

This submarine was built in 1946 to WW2 designs, and later modified to the profile as shown the Wallace Trickett painting.

There were some firsts - the first submarine in the Royal Navy equpped with radar, the first to travel totally submerged under the Atlantic Ocean for an entire duration - off Cuba to the English Coast - and the first to be a movie star, in the movie On The Beach with Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner, filmed off Melbourne.

Although an attempt was made to preserve her, HMS Andrew was eventually scrapped.
