Silver Star through Linden


About 20 km from the destination of Wellington, two DA's with the overnight Silver Star service from Auckland pass through the Keneperu station south of Porirua in 1972.  This was an all-sleeping car train, introduced in 1971, withdrawn in 1979. For details, see our books. (R. Seaton)

The picture looks like it's at Tawa station, which unlike Linden and Kenepuru stations, had a siding until the 1990s.

Next stop north (the train's heading south) is Linden, then Kenepuru, then Porirua.

Also Linden doesn't have a pedestrian overbridge.
