the 'Tamahine' in Cook Strait

A Union Steam Ship Co. ferry that for many years served the Wellington to Picton run.  For full details and lots of photos, see the book Strait Crossing: the ferries of Cook Strait through time by Vic Young. (painting by Wallace Trickett)

My understanding is this painting is now hanging in the mens ward at Wellington Hospital, how nice to know many elderly patients and visitors may see it and bring back a few memories of some wild crossings at full pelt.
