Palermo Station, Italy

Built in 1886, this had a steel and glass canopy over the 10 platforms until 1941 when it was demolished to provide steel for the war effort.  In the 1950s platforms were given individual reinforced concrete canopies. Although we can't find a reference, it seems another story was added at this time, too. Today it sees 52,000 passengers a day.
