the "Düben Egg"

Well-known for the Trabant, another quirky (and much less environmentally disastrous) creation from the DDR was the Würdig caravan.  More than 2,000 of the types 301 und 301-2 were built by the firm Würdig and its VEB (State Owned Enterprise) successor in Bad Düben (Nordsachsen). The single axle "Düben Egg", with a tare weight of only 300 kg, became a cult item in the East and 350 are still reported existing. (bild.de)
