This 13,945 grt cargo ship was completed in May 1942 by John Brown & Co. Ltd, Clydebank for owner the New Zealand Shipping Co. Ltd, London. On 13 December 1942, the unescorted Hororata was hit by one torpedo from U-103 north of the Azores. However, the ship survived. More info here
