Studebaker service car outside the Bay View Hotel, Bluff, 1930s

The driver of a 'service car' and probably his dog pose outside the closest hotel to the South Pole according to the caption, but that is 3,000 miles (4,820 km) away, even if it feels closer when a southerly wind is blowing.  The claim is a bit dubious as the southern parts of Chile and Argentina are further south.

The service car is a circa 1927 Studebaker Big Six.
