traffic in Dorchester Boulevard, Montreal, Canada, circa 1959

Including a pair of Canadian Car Brill buses in silver and brown from the early 1950s; what is that red and white truck?  The old provincial bus terminal is the first building on the right.

The old British ensign flag and the signage in English would be sure to annoy the Québécois now.

The red truck is a White 3000. The latest car I can see is the pink 1958 De Soto.

Some "for the record" info:

The street was then called "Dorchester Boulevard", and now it's named "Boulevard René Levesque", after the prominent and charismatic Parti Quebecois premier who legitimized the quest for independence.

Beyond the bus terminal is the Laurentian Hotel, soon to disappear, and beyond that is the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, made famous by John Lennon and Yoko Ono's be-in.
