At least we think it is King Street viewed from Kent Street, with the old Pyrmont Power Station, demolished in 1993, in the distance. The buildings on the left are history.
The cars parked on the right need identifying.

On the right behind the Renault Dauphine are a 1934 Chrysler CA, possibly one of the small number bodied by Holdens. Behind that is a 1934 Buick Series 40 sedan with body by Holdens (I have one of these in my shed awaiting restoration). The pre war car in the car distance, under the 'SHIPS' sign, might be a circa 1937-8 Packard. The Holden utility is a model 50/2106 which was first introduced in January 1951, according to Norm Darwin's book The History of Holden. In the centre of the picture, ahead of the 100E(? - I think the style of rear lights makes it an early one from around 1954 - can't see whether it is a two door Anglia or four door Prefect) looks to be a Ford Mainline utility from around 1955.
Correct, a Newspaper search via the Australian TROVE website confirmed the address of "Wavell House" shown in the photo is located at 27 King St, Sydney. Wavell House, King St was home to the Partially Blinded Soldiers Association"
